Join JSB and the Celebrity Series of Boston on March 11th at the Cambridge Foundry for a unique and exciting community drumming workshop, hosted by Kodō, the award-winning Japanese Taiko Ensemble.

At the workshop, five Kodō drummers will discuss the history of taiko in the Japanese culture, as well as their own experiences with the practice. After the discussion, the group will share a few of their recent pieces - perhaps with help from a few lucky members of the audience!

With this group, there's no substitute for the feeling of the in-person experience. Be there when they fill the Foundry with their propulsive music and movement! 

About Kodō and Taiko Drumming:

The taiko is a traditional Japanese drum with limitless rhythmic possibilities. Kodō is an award-winning Japanese taiko ensemble, whose mission is to explore these possibilities, and in the process forge new directions for a vibrant living art-form. Their latest work, Tsuzumi, is inspired by the collective work and artistry of Kodō Village. The soul-stirring and resonant program honors the spirit of that very special place and celebrates the ensemble’s 40th anniversary. Kodō commissions by composer Maki Ishii appear alongside longtime favorites and new works in a thrilling program that at once looks back at the past and helps build the foundation for seasons to come.
