Admission to the museum is included in the registration fee for dinner.  All are encouraged to attend the festivities at the Museum starting at 11:00AM

The Japan Society is grateful for the generous support from the following:

This year's festivities will include live Taiko drumming by Rutsubo Taiko, Shishi-Mai (lion dance) by Steve Long, and Chado tea ceremony demonstrations by Urasenke Boston. Families can also
participate in Mochi-tsuki (rice-pounding ceremony), Koma-mawashi (Japanese top spinning) and other Japanese New Year games.

Don’t miss - Two special programs for this year’s O-shogatsu celebration only.

Special guest, Mr. Shobun Setsu: a Japanese Calligraphy Artist from Kobe, Japan! With 20 years of experience in Shodo calligraphy, Mr. Setsu’s goal is to communicate and make a contribution to the world through his art. He will demonstrate a dynamic Kakizome New Year’s calligraphy with a large brush and ink. This is not to be missed!

Special activities to learn about Tohoku, Japan! Tohoku is the region that was affected by the earthquake and Tsunami disasters on March 11, 2011. We will learn the customs of Tohoku as we wish for their swift recovery in 2012.

Boston Children’s Museum is home to the Japanese House (Kyo-no-Machiya), an authentic silk merchant’s house from Kyoto, Japan. The house will be decked out with New Year’s decorations for the event.
