Attention all current, past, and future JSB language school students!

All Japanese learners are welcome!

Ever wonder what other sorts of personalities are filling the virtual seats of JSB's Japanese language classes? This is the opportunity to finally meet and network in a relaxed manner, getting to know what motivates and inspires others to がんばる (ganbaru; give it your all) in their Japanese endeavors.

Our guest speaker Edward Demling will be there to cover his Japan journey and how it has led him to a rich, Japanese speaking filled career in Japan for over 20 years  now!

                                                                         See you there!

-SPEAKER BIO-

Edward Demling is a Boston native and graduate of UMass Amherst, where he studied Geology and Anthropology.

While working a summer job at the Boston Children’s Museum, Ed developed an interest in Japan through the Japanese House exhibit, and would eventually find his career shaped in relation to Japan thereafter.

Twenty plus years later, Ed is based in Japan, now working as a professional translator at a Japanese IT company! He also facilitates the transition of Japanese professional performers to the NFL/NBA by navigating them through the work visa process and works to boost communication and understanding in the world of sport, academia, and business. Ed is always looking to utilize his language skills and cultural knowledge to build bridges, including volunteering for the Yokohama Triathlon, tutoring Japanese Paralympians and others in English/public speaking, translating subtitles for Japanese film and documentaries, and much more!
