NEW!! THEME BASED JAPANESE CLASSES

Would you like to learn about Japanese food or interesting places in Japan while learning Japanese?  We’re offering a series of theme-based Japanese online classes starting in May.  This is a great opportunity for people who would like to learn about Japan while studying Japanese – or even people who aren’t sure about taking a structured Japanese course but would like to sample it.

Like Japanese Food?  Learn Japanese through Cuisine!

Is Japanese food you know or find in the U.S. the same as in Japan? Join us in discovering Japanese cuisine and related vocabulary.  If you’re a beginner, learn how to order food, ingredients, and vocabulary related to food/cooking.  At the intermediate/advanced level, we’ll discuss the similarities and differences between American and Japanese food culture with a focus on how Japanese ideas of nutrition have become popular in the U.S.

Wednesday, June 17th at 7PM – Beginners (Full)

“The Japanese Writing System: Not as Scary as It Seems”

Have you ever wondered how the Japanese came up with three different types of characters?  Or, have you ever tried to study Japanese but gave up because the writing system seemed overwhelming?  This course will be perfect for you!  Learn the origin of the Japanese writing system and have fun at the same time!  Kanji is not so scary if you learn characters as symbols consisting of different parts.  Intermediate/advanced learners can have fun learning challenging kanji.

Wednesday, June 24th at 7PM – Intermediate/Advanced

Another Beginner session will be added in July.

“NEW!! Japanese Pop Culture”

If you’re interested in Japan because you’re fascinated by its pop culture whether it is anime, manga, cosplays, YouTubers, and fan culture, this class is for you!

Please let us know what your interests are when you register.

Monday, June 29th at 7PM - Beginners

(Open to high school students and up.)
