The Human Impact of Nuclear Weapons

Thursday, March 7, 2019 from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM

Hauser Hall 102 Malkin Classroom, Harvard University,
Cambridge, MA 02138

Please join the Armed Conflict and Civilian Protection Initiative and HLS Advocates for Human Rights for a lunch panel on the effects and legal status of nuclear weapons. Panelists will also discuss the Hibakusha Appeal, an international petition created by the survivors of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The event will conclude with information about an opportunity for students to meet with diplomats and campaigners and to deliver a presentation at an upcoming nuclear non-proliferation meeting at the United Nations in New York.

The event will feature Rebecca Irby and Christian N. Ciobanu of PEAC Institute and Charles K. Johnson of the International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War. Bonnie Docherty, Associate Director of Armed Conflict and Civilian Protection at the International Human Rights Clinic, will moderate the discussion.

Lunch will be served.
